Job Description

Testa Produce A FreshEdge LLC company , is hiring  CDL A & B Local Reefer Drivers in Chicago, IL.

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce is a wholesale  produce and food service distributor serving Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana.  Today, Testa Produce is family-owned, with Peter Testa holding the controlling interest. In 2011, the company expanded into a 91,300-square-foot facility to better serve its growing customer base, which includes restaurants, hotels, schools, hospitals, casinos, and country clubs. 

  • Truck Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of company vehicles to deliver products to customers in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Maintaining proper trip records related to distance/miles and product delivery.
  • Confirm all deliveries are correct with reference to the invoice, truck temperature, and product quality.
  • Call in all discrepancies to Dispatch Office and record Credit Memo #s for customers, whole following procedure as it relates to returns.

Compensation:

  • Average Hourly Earnings: $18.50 - $22.50/hour
    • Pay is based on several components
      • Overtime hours: 40 hours on average per week. Overtime pay is available after 40 hours
    • Paid via direct deposit paid weekly

Home Time, Route & Schedule:

  • Home Time:  Home Daily
  • Schedule:  Monday - Saturday (5-day work week)
    • Off Sundays and 1-day off during the week
  • Shift: 3:00-6:00am Start Monday - Saturday
  • Route:  Around the greater Chicagoland, IL, and surrounding areas, including IN
  • Level of Touch: Load & Unload/ Touch Freight
    • Must be able to use: 2-Wheeler/Dolly, breakdown Dolly, Manuel Pallet Jack & Small Power Jack
      • Routes can have to 8-15 stops per day.

Equipment:

  • The majority of our fleet is Refrigerated Box Trucks along with conventional tractors pulling 53ft or pup trailers
    • Drivers will be eligible for vehicle type based on license type and availability
  • Transmission: Automatic
  • Trucks utilize compressed natural gas-powered engines which provide a quieter and cleaner truck

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have CDL A or B license and a valid Medical Examiners Certificate
  • New grads are encouraged to apply and will be trained!
  • MVR and criminal history will be evaluated
  • Adherence to all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Must be able to pass a required pre-employment drug screen and alcohol test.
  • Hiring Radius: Drivers must live within 50 miles of Chicago, IL
